And those that are fun usually don't have good information that can help kids get healthier.

Playnormous is an online community for children and their parents to learn about health by playing online games, watching animations, and creating a personal monster world. Our goal is to use fun media in order to inform, educate, and inspire children to make healthier life choices regarding nutrition and physical activity.

We are well aware that virtual communities can serve as dangerous hunting grounds for online criminals, such as identity thieves and stalkers, with children particularly at risk. Because of this, we have developed a system that aims to give Playnormous users the best online experience possible.

PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED

We do NOT collect personal information that can be used to identify a specific user. To become a member of Playnormous, users only provide an email address, their gender, and birth month and year. They will be asked to choose their own screen name and password. To become a member of Playnormous, parental consent for children 12 years old and younger is required. These children must provide a parent/guardian's email address upon registration. Playnormous will send the parent/guardian an email requesting this consent and will activate the child's account upon its receipt.

We do NOT ask for a user's first and last name, address, or phone number. Playnormous users are NOT able to display personal information of any kind except for their screen name. No screen name or email address search features are available on the website. We collect birth month and year in order to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Collecting information about user age and gender also provides us with valuable demographic information that helps us make Playnormous even better for those who visit our site. We collect email addresses for the sole purpose of sending users a forgotten password or sending newsletters that inform users of new features and games released on the site. User information is NEVER sent to a third party and is compiled on a secure server that is available only to Playnormous administrators.

MANAGING YOUR PLAYNORMOUS ACCOUNT

Playnormous allows its users to view and/or delete their user information described above at any time. This information is only collected during the registration process and can be removed if desired. All you need is a screen name, password, and email to have full Playnormous privileges.

Creating a Screen Name
To become a member of Playnormous and receive the full privileges allotted on the Playnormous site, users must create a screen name. User screen names are only displayed publicly on the website for the purposes of displaying high scores on game high score lists or if a user comments on the Monster's Blog. A user's screen name can also be visible to any other users with whom they mutually agree to link their virtual monster world. Users are responsible for the content in their screen names, both in safety and appropriateness. Users will not create screen names that contain content that is: (a) vulgar, offensive, or obscene; (b) unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory; (c) revealing personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, or Social Security numbers. We use a proprietary filter technology as well as staff selective monitoring to ensure that users create screen names that are appropriate. We will remove any screen name we deem inappropriate or dangerous. We maintain the right to terminate any player's use of the site for creation and/or continuous use of a screen name that violates the terms stated above.

Communication
Playnormous does not offer users, including children and parents, the ability to communicate directly on the Playnormous site. In order for a member to link to another member, he or she must know the screen name and email address of the member with whom they wish to link.

Newsletters and Service Announcements
Playnormous offers users the opportunity to receive the Playnormous newsletter and/or to subscribe to our Monster's Blog via email. In this case, the user's email address will be used for the purposes of delivering the newsletter or blog updates. Users may unsubscribe at any time.

Cookies and Web Visit Information
Playnormous does not collect personally identifiable information from any user. Playnormous does utilize technology called "cookies" which are small bits of information sent to a Playnormous user's computer to assign each user a unique but random number. This is a standard feature found in browser software. Cookies allow us to track and collect non-personal statistical information such as which pages users visit, which games users play, how long users spend playing in each level, and if they read game instructions. We also record users scores and game achievements for the purpose of rewarding our members with virtual currency. These "tokens" are free and can be used to "spend" on avatars and virtual world accessories.

Third Parties
We do NOT sell your user information or contact information to third parties of any kind. Personally identifiable information is not collected.
