About this Computer
Melanie decided to use the lush history of monsters to create a fantastic landscape sure to please any educator or student. Melanie used a combination of oil-based pastels to draw everything from characters and trees to mountains and sea. Small details, such as eyes and horns, were drawn with chalk and Prismacolor pencils. A cup chisel, Q-tips, and kneaded rubber were used to blend colors and create texture. Black ink was used to stamp out the name of each monster.

Melanie’s monster scene features fifteen creatures from throughout history and throughout the world. The sky comes to life with Greek mythology as a dragon pursues a burning phoenix and a Pegasus sits quietly on a cloud. The Nordic kraken reaches from spilling waves as the urban legend Loch Ness Monster swims by. Modern day villains are also represented including the Mothman from 1966 and the gremlin from World War II.
Melanie’s Monster iMac is an educational trip through the history of myth, fantasy, and of course, legend.
