The Author and Editor of Monster’s Blog is none other than the Director of Marketing for Playnormous, Melanie M. Lazarus, MPH.
Melanie graduated a Lewis Scholar from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. Loving the UT science scene so much but not necessarily the working in a laboratory part, she went on to earn a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. While at the UTHSC, Melanie was the Research Assistant for the Accolade Award-winning,NIH-funded multimedia project HEADS UP and the Production Coordinator for the HEADS UP Virtual Molecular Biology Lab, a computer-based Serious Game program for advanced high school students.
It was through this project and her mentor, Dr. Ross Shegog, that Melanie was introduced to the world of Serious Games for Health–programs that use games as a way to deliver information about health. It didn’t take long for her to learn about Houston’s own rock stars in the Serious Games movement, a design company called Archimage, Inc. Who knew she would end up working for Archimage and being a part of their revolutionary subsidiary company, Playnormous?
